The Warbirds over the WabashFly-in went off without any major problems. We were a little pressed for space in the pits so spectators were rather “up close and personal” but perhaps that wasn’t a bad thing since they got a inside view of things. Aircraft ranged from a Sopwith Camel to an F-16 Falcon. Electrics, glow, gas and turbines flew from the
9 / 27 taxiway at Lawrenceville, Vincennesairport. 18 plus pilots brought somewhere north of 45 aircraft to fly. The Mustang was by far the most represented with 9 in attendance. However one of the highlights had to be the flight of two P-38 sharing the airspace on Saturday. All in all a good event and we must especially recognize the efforts of Scott Wilson, Bill McGavic and Steve Stoll who spearheaded this event. Good job guys!

Warbirds over the Wabash 2011
July 30th 2011, 15 pilots with 34 aircraft gathered at Lawrenceville/Vincennes airport for a day of flying and fun to help celebrate 100 years since the first flight of an aeroplane in Vincennes.
The day started off with an overnight rain extending into the morning hours. This most likely contributed to a lower than expected turnout of pilots. However the day soon became clear to partly cloudy and with mild winds and an excellent day to fly. Steve Fowler won the pilots choice award and Dennis Friesel took home the spectators choice award.
